From practice to the real exam

Complete required courses
135 hours of approved real estate courses (Principles, Practice, + one elective).

Apply with the DRE
Submit the Salesperson Examination Application (RE 400A) to the California DRE. $60 fee.
03
Fingerprint + background
Submit Live Scan fingerprints. Background check is mandatory.
04
Take the exam
150 multiple-choice questions, 3 hours 15 minutes. Pass mark: 70%.
05
Apply for licence
Within 1 year of passing, apply for your salesperson licence and associate with a sponsoring broker.
