Get firm sponsorship
Series 7 requires a FINRA-member firm sponsor. Independent candidates first pass the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam.

Pass the SIE if independent
SIE is the prerequisite or co-requisite for Series 7 since 2018. USD 80 fee.

Sponsoring firm files Form U4
Your firm files Form U4 with FINRA on your behalf and enrols you for the Series 7.

Schedule at Prometric
125 questions, 225 minutes, USD 300 exam fee.
05
Pass and register
Pass mark 72%. Once passed, your firm registers you with FINRA as a General Securities Representative.
