From practice to the real exam

Graduate from an approved PN program
Required to apply. Each state board has its own approval process.

Apply to your state board
File the application with your state's board of nursing.

Register with Pearson VUE
Pay USD 200 exam fee. Receive Authorization to Test (ATT).

Schedule + sit the exam
Computerized adaptive test, 85–205 items, up to 5 hours. NCSBN administers via Pearson VUE.

Receive results
Official results from your state board within 4–6 weeks. Quick results option (USD 7.95) via Pearson VUE.
